Brazil’s Serra Gaúcha, is a high-altitude region that has become closely associated with sparkling wine production. Mario Geisse founded the winery in 1979, focusing on traditional-method sparkling wines produced from estate fruit and selected vineyards following controlled yields to pursue high quality grapes. The winery has played an important role in the development of Brazilian sparkling wine, including applications for local PDO in recent years.
